Do any of you use a PH meter?

Nice set of tools for a good price. Was going to buy a new test kit to see how my PH probes were performing and saw this.

One whole hour and no response!?!? I'm leaving this forum!!

:p

Those pH probes have to be calibrated the same as the probe on your Apex. Probably would be better off just putting a second pH probe on the Apex to compare against. At least then you would have control with it and a constant reading

The one I have is cheap and only has one point calibration. However, I have standards at the house that I can always check against, so it's less of an issue. Whenever I get suspect readings on my Apex pH probe or when I want to check pH on the QT, I pull out the handheld :)

As long as you can check a pH other than the calibration pH (like calibrate at 7 and check 8, 9, or 10), then you can know how it is doing. Single point without checking doesn't really do the trick. :)

I've got one that I use to quickly check the tank. It came with 2 calibration solutions so I'm not sure if that makes a difference or not. But I find it says my tank is a quite consistent 8.2 during the day and 8.1 at night.

Yes, I calibrate at 7 and check against solutions with pH of 4 and 10.

Here at Hanna we are a great source for affordable, accurate and easy to use pH pens that are great for aquariums!

The HI98108 is a waterproof pH/temperature pocket tester pen that has automatic two point calibration and a great new design. This meter features an exposed temperature sensor that will provide rapid automatic temperature compensated measurements. The simple two-button operation provides one button for ON/OFF, the other for calibration. Being lightweight and only 0.7" thick, the pHep+ is extremely ergonomic and fits comfortably in your hand.

We also have the HI98107 which is the same design but has a resolution of 0.1 rather than 0.01 pH read out.
