Ph probe help

Bad probe.
Replace it and also get one of these for cross check

When you burn a candle you can rob the rooms O2 content. That would make PH drop.
Open the windows, close the candle, see what the prob does

The candle will consume some oxygen, but not enough to make a difference.
If that were the case, we all would suffocate when the fireplace was burning.

Sounds like your probe is bad. Did you check to make sure it is still connected properly to the apex?

Have you try rebooting the apex?
Cleaned probe? I had some film on mine because my probe is next to my skimmer(bubbles). Moved that out. No more issue it seems.
Unplugged, reboot, put them back in.

Can a ph probe crap the bed quickly? My apex is shown a ph of 7.5 and dropping. No changes to aquarium. It was 8.1 at 1pm. Then dropped like a rock out of nowhere. I don't have another way to calibrate or a second meter. What could cause a rapid drop like that. Tank seems fine.

This is precisely why I got rid of my Apex. A pH test is so easy to run and if everything looks fine does it really matter?

I put tried the probe on the orp slot set to ph2 same readings. Probe says 5.2. Of that was accurate I'm pretty sure most things would be dead.

Do you have a ph test kit? That would give you quick assurance that your probe is bad.

You would be amazed what a candle can do in a small room over several hours.
My oxygen content actually increases when the fireplace is on as it “pulls” outside air into the room, otherwise your fireplace would reverse flow and put the smoke in your room.

That being said, your right, it would not cause a consistent and large drop like suggested by the OP
