PH problems

I'm having trouble maintaining PH. I even opened the windows in he house to help clear co2 to try and raise it. I've done water changes and still about 7.9. I would like to see 8.1 or 8.2. I add a little soda ash and it temporarily brings it up but having a system of 85 gallons with only 3 fish and nothing but what was dry live rock I'm having a tough time understanding why I cant get it to maintain at least a 8.0. Any other ideas?

Possibly consider an IceCap CO2 Scrubber?

7.9 is ok for fish only.

Don’t worry about it. Mine is around that most of the time and unless you know what your doing messing with pH, well bad things will happen

You also have to consider test kit margins or error.

You might want to check your Alkalinity.

PH changes during the day, PH goes up when the lights turn on, down when they turn off (I notice ORP does the opposite). Thank you Apex for always watching PH.

7.9 is ok for fish only.

Thats what worries me.. everything is on spec and lightly dosing brings the last thing up. Ph. So I want to get started with the corals. And this consistently crazy low ph (7.7 now) with a tank with nothing more than rock is worrisome.

Do you run a skimmer?
Can you runthe air to outside?

Don't worry about PH in the beginning. It is much better to allow the tank to find it's own level. As the tank matures algae will start to grow and this will raise your PH. Don't chase PH numbers on a young tank.
