My ph always stays around 7.8-7.9 added some balance ph up got it up to 8.2 yesterday just for it to be back down to 7.8 this morning..i dose kalwasser in my top off system using a kalk stirrer..also run a reverse lighting system for the sump.cant open windows since its been 98 outside what could be the problem with it not staying up ,or shoul di just let it be at this level since all fish ,coral are doing fine?

thanks for any input.

Probably co2 buildup. I have the same problem in my tank. I opened the lid and ran a paddle fan on high. I also pointed my power head up more to oxygenate the water. If you can, adding a co2 scrubber can help. My nano doesn't have a skimmer so I don't have one. Also, for what it's worth, my corals are fine because the tank is stable. That's more important than a particular number, within limits.

+1 on that. Also you should be more interested in the alk. level. Test it and see what you have. As of now you are within range i wouldn't worry too much.

hook up your skimmer air line to the outside air if you can. also if it's hot outside opening a window is not ideal, but you can open window and put a box fan in it for a couple of hours at night when its cooler, this works wonders on thining out the high co2 values in your closed house. i do the window thing every other day.

Don't spend much time worrying about pH, it fluctuates during the day and night and pretty much takes care of itself.
Watch your calcium, alkalinity and magnesium and it will even out on its own, trying to chase it is a losing battle and will make you lose your hair, don't fret it.

I figured it was ok being I just got new ph probe instead of the color matching crap I finally get a true reading. I agree with ya fish are happy and so are the corals so I'm not changing anything then. Oh yeah mag 1250 cal 440 temp 79 alk 9.8 phos .02 nitrate 5. All seem fine right now

Correct me if im wrong but Because of any algae in the tank, photosynthesis will cause pH to rise throughout the day

Id be ok with a 0.3 swing. Its on the high end of OK in my opionion but still good.

My ph ranges from 7.7-8.0. Stability is more important than a specific number, within reason. I wouldn't tinker with it too much. Good luck!
