I would suppose that this is certainly possible, but, only if you are having chronic high PH values. Is this your problem?

Possible, would I do it, no.
It's dangerous if for any reason valve gets stuck open. Your tank will be dead in no time.
pH will drop very quickly wiping the entire tank.

I have never seen a tank where the pH runs too high unless it is using a lot of hydroxide alkalinity supplement and has inadequate aeration, or has installed a strong algae reactor, and again, has inadequate aeration.
