I am dosing Componet 1 2 and 3 into my tank which is coming up to it on the tanks 1 year mark.

What I have noticed is my ph is slowly rising On the tank. When I first started the tank it was approx 8.2 on average it has now raised in the last 12 months to 8.4.

I am dosing 23 ml a day, the tank is thriving without any issues but would like to know is this normal?

Below is my daily Ph swing which is from my GHL controller. I am using two ph probes one in the tank and one in the sump.
The one in the tank are in the overflow the ones in the sump are in return pump area. They are off by .05.

I have tested with multiple test kits, and they all come in with the same value when test throughout the day.

My aklinity which is also being monitored by a GHL KH director is staying steady Between 7.1 and 7.0. I dropped from 7.2 to 7.1 and plan to increase the dosage but before doing was concerned because of the rising ph.

My CA is 430
My MG is 1300
KH average 7.1
PH average now is 8.4
Phosphate is around .02
Salinity 1.025 on average

I also do a automatic water change of water of 1.7 gallons a day.

I dose the three part 24 times day to spread it out throughout the day.

Should I be concerned?
Thanks

Wow. Im jelious, lol. Ive been useing aquaforest for 2 yrs in a sps tank and i cant keep my ph up without kalk. Try putting your protein skimmer on a timmer so its only running 3/4 of the day. It will cause less airation causing more co2 in the water which should lower the ph.

@jtietz - Thank you, I will try that. I am currently using a Royal Exclusive Bubble King 180, It is already off about 2 hours a day on dosing intervals, of coral food, and normal feeding of the fish. I will slowly increase the outage of the skimmer over 4 weeks to lower the PH.

Thank you!!

I dont know if its normal or not but my pH runs in the range of 8.2 to 8.45. Everyone looks happy so I dont care much. I dose homemade component 123 and I dose 120 ml per day to hold the Kh at 7.7. Mine also increased from 8 to 8.4 slowly over the years.

@Anirban - thank you, so maybe leave it alone until it goes to 8.5 then begin to worry . I was not expecting it to rise to above 8.3, but the coral do not seem to mine at all.

Mine generally come down to 8 when I do water changes after every 2 week.

Hi there,

Not sure if this got picked up in your other threads, but how is your PH doing now? I'm actually trying to raise mine...

Cheers,
Tony

Question for you. been trying to find the right area to express my concerns?? I started using Componets 123 and my tank volume is 145 gallons. ive been dosing 23 ml 6 times a day of each solution. My current permatures are Calcium 400 mag 1400 and Alk is 9.8. do I keep dosing 23ml 6 times a day for the next 20 years?? I've noticed a lot of solution gone from my dosing container. Am I over reacting?

I assume 23ml x6 = 138ml per day worth of solution? Is your

My assumption is you determined your alkalinity drop per day and when placed into the aquaforest calculator which said 138ml? Are you staying stable at 9.8 or rising? Do you want to be that high? I have my one tank at 7.2 and the other at 8.

To answer your other question do you dose that for the next 20 years depends on the tank consumption. If your saying at 138ml my tank parameters are stable then yes. I would do a one time dose of component A to get calcium to the proper level.

138 ml a day. correct. I did determine through my Alk, its been at 9.8 for the last 4 days. any where between 7-11 Dkh is correct? should i lower my dosage down now that its somewhat stable?

Yes 7-11 is the target range. aquaforest says 6.5 to 8, but have seen tanks run higher.

Do your coral look ok? How old is the tank? Technically if you lower the dosage your alkalinity will drop the key is stability. If your stable at 9.8 and that where you want to be then you would remain at your current dosage. If you want to lower your alkalinity you can by reducing the dosage.

Corals look great. Tank is 4 years old. its a 125 gallon reef. 50 gallon sump. lots of rock. how do you send pictures on here>

If it is staying steady and the coral look great then keep the dosing the way it is and check it once a week to make sure everything is staying within parameters. I would dose componet 1 (calcium) one time to get it to 420 otherwise your set to go :)
