How,No, that makes sense.
Search Sodium Bicarbonate vs Sodium Carbonate. They are both options for raising your ALK, but Sodium Bicarbonate does have the same affect on PH (does not raise). How,

What did you dose?
Red Sea Foundation?Red sea (alk) would that rise kill my coral?
YeahRed Sea Foundation?
I have used Red Sea Foundation B to bump my Alk once a week as I stabilize my Kalkwasser dosing. Usually bumping my alk up from 8.3 to 8.8 takes my PH from 8.26 to 8.35 just after the dose. Depending on where you dose and the flow in that area it can be a localized PH bump that dissipates over time. I have not found the corals reacting to this negatively at all. In fact I haven't see any reaction.Yeah
From I can see, it is Sodium Carbonate (Soda Ash) plus some other stuff, so a rise in PH is expected. Unless a very large rapid increase, it not an issue. Sodium Carbonate and Kalk are often used by those who want to increase their PH. To reduce the quick increase (including your dkh) you can slowly drip the supplements into a high flow area.Yeah
