Well I have two tanks and am experiencing a PH roller coaster and the SPS look terrible. It gets up to 8.1 something in the day and drops to like 7.7 at night. This is happening on two tanks. The one in the basement I have seen in the 7.6. I am running Kalk on both tanks. The 320 carx which I shut off because of the problem and the one in the basement is two part. I assume it is because of my tightly sealed house. I keep the tops off of both tank. I though about running the skimmer lines outside but would prefer not to drill into brick or the foundation.

Not the PH was stable in the 320 for months until I added about 40 large mangroves to the sump. Are thay doing something to acidify the water?

What do you do to keep your ph up?

i nkow you said you were runnign Kalk on the tanks, but what is your DkH? IME, having a good KH level will help stabilize the PH. mine barely fluctuates. also a tight lid on the tank can affect gas exchange resulting in higher CO2 levels causing PH drop, but not necessarily swing.

You need to check all 3... DkH / Cal / Mg...
If you Magnesium is low. Your pH will be all over the place. You should be around 1400-1500
Then bring up you kH... to around 8-10 kH ... a higher pH should follow... Do it all slowly.

+1 check all three... DkH / Cal / Mg...

I had some crazy swings in PH. I found that my Mag was low, which messed up the balance of dKH and Calcium. I tried to adjust my dosers to correct, this did not work. I had to do large water change to reset parameters. How, I am starting supplementing Mg to maintain.

Thanks all for the replys. I had a local reefer come over and we found that all of the PH probes were out of wack. Once I calibrated them everything is back on track. I will do this monthy now. Thanks James!
