Ph shooting up idk why

ph just started shooting upin the last hour. Ph is at 8.59 have no idea whats going on

Can you give us more info about your setup? Do you dose anything? Running a refugium?

No fug not dosing anything. I think my probe is junk. It was made in 2017 and I just started using it this month I guess they have a shelf life of 2 to 5 years. Trying to calibrate it but its going very very slowly. Dropping .01 like every 30 sec to a min. So I'm pretty sure its trash.

If you have a test kit, I would test just to be sure

Without knowing anything about your setup, I’d guess you just switched your refugium lights to turning on at 8:00. my system’s PH drops during the time lights are off and rises to when lights are turned on.

Have you maybe changed something to promote gas exchange, say around 8:00?

CO2 dissolved in a liquid will make it more acidic. Something even as simple as opening a window or a fan turning on can make a noticeable difference quite rapidly.

Windows had been open all day. There was absolutely zero changes going on in my fish tank room. No one had been in there at the time the changes started happening.
