My pH has been swinging between 8.0 and 8.2 for months now. Average is about 8.07 according to my Apex. My Calcium dipped down to around 380 ppm and I have been gradually bringing that back up, as I have done that my Alkalinity started to drop slightly.I have been keeping it around 8.4 to 9.0 range. It dropped to around 7.6 and I started dosing as of this morning it is at 7.8. So last night I got an alarm from the Apex that the pH had dropped below 7.8, it actually dropped to around 7.7 everything looks good although a couple of my newer frags don't look so sporty. Tank is around 11 months old. 180 gallon, mixed reef. The rapid drop in pH from 8.08 to 7.69 happened between 1:30 pm yesterday and low around midnight. Lights off around 4 pm, tank is at my office. Any suggestions?

Any temperature changes correlating to the pH change? How old is the probe?

Nope regular temp swing of about a degree or so every few hours. Probe is same age as tank about 11 months. I did notice an increase in ORP but don't really pay much attention to that. I am thinking about re-calibrating the pH probe to see what that will do.

I just re-calibrated about 30 minutes ago it appears to have stabilized at pH 7.8 I am leaving it for a couple of days so I am hoping it was just an anomaly...

Maybe this has some bearing I just recently reduced my Vodka dosing by about 2.5 mls per day from 12.5 to 10. I had a little bit of slimy white on the glass, and my filter socks were clogging up within about 36 hours.

Reduced organic dosing should, if anything, result in a small pH rise. :)
