I recently added a seahorse tank to my marine system, (via sharing the sump). I wanted the seahorse tank to have lots of macro algae so I moved all the cheato and calerpa out of the fuge and into the pony tank. Now that temperature is an issue I took off the light on the sump. My PH always runs about 8.2 without fail however this morning it was very low before the lights came on. What is a normal swing? BTW, the corals and fish appear unaffected.

I never chase PH numbers as long as all other parameters are in line. Mine runs now from 7.9ish to 8.1ish but it varies as a year ago it ran even lower with a high of 7.9ish.

That's what I thought too but it was 7.6ish and it has never been that low although I never check it when the lights are off. I added super buffer and did a WC and now its back up. I should have held off on the super buffer until the lights came on because I don't know if it is a photo phase swing or if it was something else. I recently did a WC with water from our dehumidifier which would be much softer than our tap water so that may also have contributed to low PH.
