65 gal. 6 mo old. Mostly softies. Growth has been slow. Got Mt calc and alk dialed in recently. The swing is not generally the concern, rather it is the the extremes to worry about, and especially low pH end.
IMO, pH getting below 7.8 begins to be cause for doing something.
Can you describe the tank?
Thank you, great article. I have noticed the ph goes up when the windows are open and drops when they stay closed. Could a sand sifting gobie digging under my rockwork cause ph issues too?If the Apex is recently calibrated, then you have elevated CO2 in the tank, which is probably from your home air. That is quite common. Many people do not bother measuring pH, but pH as low as yours may begin to be a concern.
There are many ways to raise pH, including just bringing in more fresh air with open windows if the climate allows.
