pH test or meter recommendations

I have been using the API high pH test, but the it is really difficult to accurately match up the test color with the colors on the card (is it light purple, or medium, or medium darkish?). Can anyone recommend a better test or an electronic meter that is under $100?

Anyone know a standalone Ph meter that the LCD display stays on all the time to observe all times of day? Not part of a controller. Not a pen meter. Thanks

You want a benchtop lab pH meter or a pH data logger.
Most should stay on until you turn them off.
And some have cool probe holders included

American Marine Pinpoint makes a nice pH monitor. Has a 12V battery but you can purchase the power supply for continuous use.

Aqua Medic do a Ph monitor, good value for money, i have one on my Discus tank (Also used on saltwater tank) comes with lots of calibration fluid and is a breeze to calibrate. This is the UK link but im sure they ship to USA or have their own North American website.
