I’m looking for recommendations for a reliable PH tester. I have a Hanna and it’s all over the place. I also have a Hanna Alk tester and understand the measure different things. I have just seen some info telling me not to chase PH but check alk regularly.
Thanks

A probe is your best bet in my opinion. I use the milwaukee ph monitor with included probe and it works great for me.

Yes, a probe monitor is going to be your best bet. I have the pinpoint and love it, just open the stand door, flip it on and give it a couple seconds to stabilize the reading!

which model?

OP, my hanna egg ph checker is giving me wonky readings too. i should be receiving a calibration kit for it tomorrow from BRS.. will update you on what/how it reads after the calibration

I use MC122 because i can set it up as fail safe to turn power off to my doser if PH rises above certain amount(in which case i probably have had a doser mishap).

MC120 i believe is essentially the same monitor just without an ability to control power switch....but $50 cheaper

American Marine, the probes last a long time. I keep the Probe Immersed in the Sump, clean, it once in a while, with a Soft Toothbrush. I use the calibration Solutions, then fine tune it to two test kits. It does have a tendency to drift up in it’s reading, but takes many months to do this. Get the 9 volt Power Supply, to eliminate the 9 volt battery. If you are going to use a Calcium Reactor, get the American Marine Controller.
