Can any one share the alk to ph range thats ok for a reef. Example if alk is 10 and ph is 7.8 thats too low etc something to work off when dosing chemicals etc

While pH and alk (and CO2) are related mathematically, I’m not sure that the actual level for one strongly impacts the acceptable level for the other.

I was told if your alk above 8.4 and ph hobers around 7.8 then thats a sign of highco2

that’s true. You can determine CO2 from pH and alkalinity.

The pH would likely the be the same if the dKh was 12 or 7, too.

at the same CO2 level, the pH at a carbonate alkalinity of 12 will have a pH that is about 0.23 pH units higher than the same water with a carbonate alk of 7.
