so I added an Avast marine kalk stirrer to my system last Tuesday. My ph ,as with most tanks, goes down at night and up in the daytime. I set it up to dose around 100 ml every 2 hours with a brs dosing pump starting at 6 pm and ending at 8 am. The total amount dosed is around 1/4 gallon to start. My ph used to run from around 8.1 to about 8.3. It now runs from around 8.28 to 8.39. A few times it has spiked to 8.41 or 8.42 during the afternoon. I tested my alk and calcium after 4 days and they were spot on at 8.2 and 430. My question is, is it a big deal for my ph to be spiking about 8.4 for a short period, about an hour, some afternoons or am I just getting worked up over nothing? I have attached screenshots of before and after adding the Kalk stirrer. Thanks for your help!

Those numbers are in the "acceptable range". 7.8 to 8.5 is good. That swing is nothing to worry about at all.

I live in the Caribbean so my windows are always open. I never had a problem with it being low, just getting a little high.

Thanks for the reassurance! If i may ask, what are the benefits/issues with ph in the 8.4+ range?
