I started my new aquarium 3 days ago. The pH is at about 7.5. Should it be at 8.0-8.3? will it raise naturally or do I need to buffer it? if so what is the best product to accomplish this?

How is the flow in your tank? Is the tank sealed at the top or does air get in?

What are you using for flow? Where are the power heads pointed? Does the water surface have good movement? How long have the lights been on before you test?

In addition to the other questions, I would also be curious about what kind of test kit are you using? I would ensure they are not expired. Also, have you tested your other levels such as Alk and Ca? Do you mix your own salt? pH levels will fluctuate throughout the day, and there are many factors to look at. With some more information, I'm sure we can help you out.

+1 on testing CA and ALK.
If your alk is low, PH will generally be low.
PH will also be lower when lights are out due to lack of photosynthesis.
Low oxygen will also cause low PH.
I have heard of people using an airstone while the water changes are being made.

Mostly right, but I wanted to clarify it a little :)

Oxygen doesn't affect pH, whether it's high or low. It's the presence or absence of carbon dioxide that affects it (too much lowers the pH).
