I'm trying to get my ph to go up and I'm using 8.4 by aquavitro and I've been putting it in my buckets of water and to the tank itself and I can't get my ph to go up and I'm pretty sure that it's no higher than 8.0 and I've been adding this stuff for about 2 weeks now everyday and it seems like it got to where it's at and stopped so I don't know if it's gonna go higher because I think that it needs to but I took a picture of my test result and it would be greatly appreciated if someone could let me know if I'm right about the 8.0 and if so what can I do to get it higher??

All of my test results look good except for the ph and here's my po4 it looks like it's .02 on a red sea test kit

and my nitrate are at 25 which I'm trying to get those down to and I'm running vibrant and I just did a water change on Sunday and I'm gonna do another water change on Friday or Saturday and then I'm gonna keep doing a water change each week because I was doing them every 2 weeks but apparently that's not good enough so I'm gonna change half of my water each week which is a total amount of 25 gallons of water so hopefully this will get everything back in order and my alkalinity is at 10.2 on a Hanna checker so these levels aren't bad right

I'm having a similar issue with pH. I'm enquiring about a CO2 scrubber for my skimmer to raise pH.

I would avoid alkalinity based PH buffers.
Your cal alk and mag balance may suffer in the long run.

My alkalinity is at 10.2 and I have to get a good test kit to test calcium because I only have an api test kit for calcium and the alkalinity I tested with a Hanna alkalinity checker so that's definitely right

I don't have a magnesium test kit either so I don't know how to raise the ph then because I don't have a sump and I have all hob stuff on my tank so what would be a good way to raise the ph then

If you have a low coral macro algae load. I would not concern myself to much honestly.

Good aeration and water change schedules, and perhaps a hob refugium. Also consider you dosing schedule and method.

Yeah but I was told that ph is lowered in ro water so water changes won't raise the ph and this tank is just a small tank but I do have bigger tanks and I have a hob refugium on one of my tanks but I'm trying lps corals and stuff in this smaller tank and like I showed on here my test looks like it reads 8.0 and I took a picture on here and posted my test results but I thought that the ph should be 8.4 in a reef tank that's all

Ph in ro water is instantly changed once mixed with salt.
Ph will change once the tank ages and more photosynthetic animals and plants are introduced to use the co2.
8.4 is an ideal but rarely attained without a lot of effort and cost generally. 8 is not a bad number at at all.

It's generally refrered to as chasing numbers.

Ok I just wasn't sure but did you see my test results on the first page doesn't it look like it's at 8 take a look at it so I know that I read the test right because I took a picture of the test vial and stuff on the first page

Yea that looks right.

Also test at the very end of the once in a while.

A test first thing in the morning and right before the lights go out can tell you a lot.

Ph is mostly going to depend on how airtight your house is in ratio to the amount of people inside. I have even left a window open in the filter room to combat this. Skimmer line 1" plumbed 11' outside. Check out the grid. The flat line was exactly when my family left the house DESPITE having a small window open. If you look back prior you can tell exactly when they got back the last time. This always happens and is totally dependent on people breathing. Point is, it is what it is.

I'm using reef crystal salt right now but I saw Jason fox talking about him using instant ocean on his reef tanks and I did use to use that and I changed to the reef crystal thinking that it would be better for the reef tank but now I saw him saying that he has always used the instant ocean salt so I'm gonna switch back to the regular instant ocean salt after I use the rest of the reef crystal salt

So I guess I'll just leave it alone from now on then and just do my water changes and not put the 8.4 by aquavitro in the buckets of water that I mix

The biggest difference in the salts is alk. I would use the one that best suits your alk level. I'm not sure what's in the aquavitro 8.4, but like salty said, I wouldn't mess with buffers. As long as you are 7.8 or above you're fine.
