hi what is the proper way to keep ph consistant?

if you have enough live rock and argonite sand for the bottom and you use quality salt mix your ph should maintain itself. if not, ive always used a little crushed coral in my rift lake cichlid tanks to get the ph up there. 1 pound should raise ph from 7.0 to 8.0. ive never had to do this for my salt tank though because of all the live rock and argonite sand i got in there. it always stays around +\- 8.2.

ok just checking right now my ph is 8.2 and in the morning it is around 8.0 but go's up slowing to around 8.2 so i think everything is ok.:wink:

yep ph should be fine. what about your other perameters??? i just found out that i have to also test for alk, mag, phos, and cal too (read my thread).

After getting a pH meter on my AC jr. I could keep an eagle eye on my pH, and I noticed that in the summer and winter when the house is closed up, that the elevated CO2 levels in the house would cause a noticeable decrease in my pH

So if you are having a problem with low pH, introducing fresh outside air to your skimmer helps keep it up.

Using liquid pH additives is unadvised, they only help temporary, and don't really get to the true problem.

i told you months ago when you came over to grab a frag that you need to check those also,......you where asking what could be wrong with one of your coral and i was asking what your nitrates where and you had no idea....i told you that you should at least know what those are when your having a problem....then get back to me.....well you never did get back to me and now your saying that you just found out you need to test for those???...so what are your nitrates ??
