Phantom/Ghost feeding during cycle

About how much food do you put when phantom feeding during a cycle? I've been dropping a little food in daily. I'm trying to get some of my levels to spike but I'm thinking the live sand and the biospira did some work to keep my levels down.

Depending on size of tank, few pinches of food everyday till Ammonia spikes to 1.5-2ppm.

I used pure ammonia that I bought at Ace hardware, was the only plac i could find that sold ammonia with no additives. I started this method when starting a fresh water tanks a few years ago so i tried it on my reef, worked great.
