Hello everyone. I'm terrible at math and was hoping someone can help me and show your work on how to calculate the proper dose of Phosphate-E from Brightwell. Here are the instructions taken from the bottle.....

Each ml eliminates 1 ppm phosphate in 4 US-gallons of water
(250 ml treats 1,000 US-gal).

So lets say my tank is 120 gallons and my Phosphate level is .10 and I'm looking to reduce it to .05. Can you show me how to figure this out???? Thanks in advance.

It gives you full dose and 1/2 dose. I use Phosphate e as well and highly recommend using the 1/2 dose and reducing over a week or so and not all at once. This allows you to learn much better how this stuff works in YOUR tank.

Can't thank you enough. THIS IS AWESOME!!! Bookmarked! Would still like to see the math just to learn something.
There is a thread in here that I got it from. I will try to find it for you. Then you can ask the guy for the formula!

I found it. Reading through it now
Great! I just began using it a couple weeks ago as I had a major nutrient spike after 20 months. Happy to share anything I have learned. You can also follow on my build thread starting around the beginning of November.

Thanks will follow, especially since we have the same tank.

Im sure you will never use actual math with access to the calculator app but if you are like me, I like to know the hows and whys, not just a do this or dose that mentality. Plus I double check everything. Along the same lines as measure twice cut once.

tbh, 0.10 isn't high. Are you having problems?

No not at all. My phosphates are currently .06 I keep Brightwell Phosphate-E on hand just in case of high phosphate levels. I was trying to figure out the dose and used those numbers as an example.

I've used the Advanced Acrylics version, and it works quickly. Mine was 3.0+ ppm at one point and it came down to 1.0 then 0.0 pretty quickly, but the rebound lasted a few weeks. I have a full bottle of SeaKlear cuz I thought I would need more of it, but haven't used it.

My PO4 hovers at 0.10 ppm now (which I'm fine with), but if I were you and yours runs that low naturally, I wouldn't control it with LaCl; I'd just use a little GFO, or in my case Rowaphos. Personally, with your PO4 levels I wouldn't touch anything.

100% agree with you. Have no plans on messing with my phosphate levels. I use a Rain2 Algae Turf scrubber and it keeps phosphates in check and my reef is thriving at my current levels. I was bored and reading the directions on the Brightwell Phophate-E and trying to figure out how to dose it. This awesome forum gave me the Calculator and math equation within minutes of posting.

dude, I've seen your videos. With your tank looking like that...Leave your PO4 TF alone!!! LOL Don't even touch the bottle (unless it's EtOH), and run some GFO if you need it.
