Hello all,

I have a few questions concerning phosguard.

Latest parameters
Nitrate 1 ppm
Phosphate 0.25

1. Will using phosguard lower my nitrates? (I dont want this to happen)
2. How much would you recommend for a nuvo 10 gallon with probably 7 gallons of water due to water displacement with rocks and sand?
3. What do you consider low enough phosphates for good growth and calcification? I am definitely not chasing zero since I've had dinos twice but I would like to see some growth.

Thanks,
Justin

1) no
2) use 1/4 over the recommended dose, at the start / test your phosphate levels daily
3) .03 to .05 ppm

Yes it could, I’m not a big fan of phosgaurd or gfo.. it looks like your issue is high phosphates which I had also and used phosphate rx and it took care of the problem

I'm not a fan of phosgard either (aluminum-based) but love simmering Rowaphos in a dedicated reactor.

Hearing some good things with dosing Brightwell's Phosphat-E

I use phosgaurd in bags in my sump and also dose nopox as I have a big biolaod. For me it works great and all tank inhabitants are happy.
