I'm trying to lower the phosphates in my 10g Nano tank. Is it safe to run a 100ml bag of Phosguard? Packaging says that it treats up to 60 gallons. I've never used it before and don't want to overdose my tank.

And before it's asked, I've tried lowering the phosphates via water changes and it doesn't seem to help. There is very little feeding going on. The only fish in it is a small frogfish. I feed a small amount of Reef Roids to the corals twice a week and do a weekly 20-30% water change (usually around 3 gallons). As stated previously, water changes do absolutely nothing to reduce the PO4. I'm guessing it's the sand that could be releasing it along with some silicates (I had a bad algae issue).

Its efficiency will be limited by how much flow it sees. I think it would be fine in a low flow area.

I had planned to just stick it in the HOB that I run on it. I just wanted to make sure that the bag wasn't too much or if I'd need to cut it open and use a smaller amount. I plan on testing frequently to make sure the phosphate doesn't drop too low.

I think it would be too much for an HOB filter. I would cut it open and use a smaller amount. If you do try it, I would test at least 3 or 4 times a day if you have delicate corals.
