So 3 days ago i measured phosphate at 1.20 fast forward to 5 minutes ago im measuring 2.38....using a Hanna Colorimeter and ive done nothing different in those past 3 days except fed reef-roids once...thoughts?

40 gallon breeder running a Aquamaxx HOB 1.5 24/7

How many fish, and what are you feeding them, how much and how often?

Alittle less then 1/2tsp (per the instuctions on the packet) mixed with about a cup of tank water, then target feed and broadcast the leftovers
i feed twice a day (morning and night) a mix of small mysis and brine shrimp about a pea sized lump of each

tank stock:
2 Occellaris clowns
1 royal gramma
1 sailfin tang
1 large blue leg hermit
1 halloween hermit
handful of small blue hermits
about 20 varius snails
1 emerald crab
2 peppermint shrimp
1 pistol shrimp
1 watchman goby
10 various corals soft and sps

Have you verified that reading with an alternate test? It’s likely the reef roids.
If your corals are still small, they don’t need a lot of food. I’d try cutting back on the amt or reef roids or don’t feed them at all. Try phyto or just target them some of your mysis.

How large is the sailfin? I can’t not mention that sailfins need much more tank than you have.

I actually just read a similar post about reefroids sending their phosphate to the moon so i guess we found the culprit....

The tang is small about 2.5 inches, i do plan on upgrading to a 100+ gallon tank by the end of the year so he will have more room.

180 gallons I hope. Lol. But yeah. Reef roids are notoriously bad about elevating PO4. I feed reef energy A+B 3 days a week and live phyto once a week now because phyto blooms in my tank like crazy. The reef energy still affects PO4 but my tank is only 24 gallons, I feed as much food as you do and my PO4 never goes above 0.08.
