After 2 weeks of cycling in my 20g tank I saw that my phosphate levels are around 1ppm. Is that something I need to take care of or just wait? If yes, what do I need to do?:)

Only using R/O water and started the cycling with LR (no shrimp or food)

Thanks in advance!

Its time to add some ammonia source and raise it for more bacteria, and keep testing. Don't worry about phosphate once you done with cycle do a 20% water change that should settle the phosphate.

I have decided to go without ammonia and let the LR do the work:) I will be on a trip for 2 w in the beginning of sept. so no need of rushing the cycling.

But then I just wait and when the cycling is done I'll do a 20% water change. Thanks for the answer!

Hello Frederick and welcome to R2R.

I’m a little concerned about your cycle by what you posted.

It seems like you have saltwater in a tank and just added rock.

You MUST have an ammonia source and a bacteria source to begin a cycle and you MUST keep I going.

Are you testing for ammonia, nitrates, and nitrates?

Let’s start off with those questions first.

Let’s get this tank rolling!
