Is it ok just to use a skimmer? I have an AIO, cant really fit a sock into any chamber atm. My phopshates are .90, ive tried Phosguard/chemipure and to no avail

I don’t know what you are asking - I used to run a lil mini skimmer on my nano when it was overstocked? IM makes a small reactor that should fit to for GFO, I’ve used that before too.

I do not know how much of the particulate matter might be skimmed out (or removed by sock, for that matter), or whether not using a filter of some sort increases the risks for creatures like clams and tangs that may suffer from lanthanum dosing.

I'm asking if only a skimmer is fine when dosing phosphate RX, people suggest a micron sock

My answer is I do not know, but it is certainly not going to do the same thing as a sock.

For my RedSea 260 which is an AIO with no sock, I dose Phosphate RX into neck of skimmer which removes visible precipitate within 45 minutes and product works as advertised.

Might check out YouTube videos by Malev's Reef (sp?)

Do you see it in the skimmate, and not collecting elsewhere settling out??

The skimmer "goes crazy" almost immediately and I believe most of the floculant is removed as skimmate bubbling over into the collection area. Phosphate RX causes a very noticeable clouding of the water which is removed by the skimmer I believe, and tank water regains clarity in less than an hour. Haven't noticed any settling out, but will look carefully if I have to use again.

Skimmer neck you mean just put it in the middle where all the bubbles are?
Yes, in that way it contacts tank water and bonds to the phosphate in the water and will then be removed by skimmer.
Good luck

Great, thanks!
