I could use an opinion on my test results not matching between Salifert and Hanna ultra low range.

Today I did 2 tests with each test set.

Salifert - Did double the water and reagents for both tests. Both done as similarly as possible. Best estimate of both tests was that is was just slightly darker than the 0.03 color, so 1/2 of that puts me at 0.02 to 0.03 I would guess.

Hanna - Cleaned vial with paper towel and filled with tank water. Did C1 test with 10ml marking facing the screen. Added the reagent to this same vial only handling the vial with a paper towel so as not to leave fingerprints. Rolled the vial to dissolve the reagents and tested. First go was 120, second was 104. That works out to around 0.32 to 0.35ppm.

So here I am with one repeatable test that says I am borderline low and another that says I am high. My gut is to trust the Salifert test even if it is much less accurate just because of the ease of use.

Any thoughts?

Personally I have stuck with Hanna time and time again for accuracy. Go spend 3 dollars and check it with the LFS see what they say to see which test is accurate.

Not a bad idea. Even if they are a 45 minute drive. Might have to do that this weekend.

Make or get a reference solution.
That sounds like a great idea... I'll do some searching to see the best way to do that. Thanks!
