So i had another post about lime green algae on my dry rock and ruled it out as normal and there was small talk about green hair well now i have it bad and i was told api tests weren't all that great but i have a small read of .25 or lower.
I have a refugium with chaeto a little bigger than a golf ball. What else can i do.

Dump SeaKlear in there to rid your tank of the phosphates until your chaeto is large enough to keep it out of your system. Or use another Lanthanum product to remove it form your system, SeaKlear is just made for pools so just a little of this goes along way in an aquarium.

Lowering your phosphates too quickly is not a good idea... if the tank is empty of corals then go for it. You have to be careful if you use the above products, or others like Phosphate E etc.

But yes, the API kits aren't that great and .25 phosphate would be extremely high which is fueling your algae growth. Where are your nitrates?

How long has the tank been set up?

I would try manual removal, regular water changes, and maybe a couple turbo snails before you go the liquid phosphate remover route or using lanthanum chloride

Try 10ml of ho2o ( hydrogen peroxide 3% ) for every 10 gallons per day. It will be gone and is very reef safe

Tank is a month and half have fish and coral in it not much just a toad stool, kenya tree and zoas. My nitrates are 0

New tanks experience algae blooms of all sorts... so I would just continue with maintenance and water changes , add a few more snails...

But what test kit are you using I doubt your nitrates are zero honestly... sometimes the algaes are eating it up before you test kit picks it up as well.

I would use something different or compare with a friends test kit if you have a reefer buddy. I would recommend getting a salifert or red sea kit for better accuracy although all the test kits read different between brands... but it would give you a better idea of where you are at. HTH

So you have a 10g DT with a 10g sump? You'd dose 1ml for the DT and another 1ml for the sump, that's if your sump holds a full 10g ? If it holds maybe 5g, dose 1.5ml total

Its getting really bad

Are you using rodi water? How frequently are you doing wc? What and how much are you feeding? That is a nice cyno bloom.

Ya may want to use some phoszorb or something. The red slime is out of hand. The green isn't bad I don't think. Mine turned that green and went red. What lighting are you using?
