Phosphates in freshly mixed saltwater

I only have a 13 gal. tank, so usually just pick up water from the lfs. For the first time, I measured the phosphates with my Hanna Checker and it came up with 0.02. I expected it to be 0. Are there phosphates in freshly mixed water or might my checker be wrong?
(the checker is only for saltwater, so I can't use rodi to test it.)

you need phosphates in a tank. Just not too many. yes, there should be some Phos in any salt mix

All salt mixes will likely have some level of PO4. I wouldn't worry about it too much.

along with many of the foods you put in the tank..which is probably higher than a new salt mix
