I have a Canon Revel XT and I've been slowly learning how to navigate the white balance, ISO exposure, etc. Can I get some feedback on some of these photos. Too dark still? Any advice or pointers? Thanks in advance!

Not too dark at all, the exposures are just fine! What settings were you using for these? They look a little soft, are they hand-held or on a tripod? Increasing the f-stop number would help increase the clarity and using either the 'shady' or 'cloudy' white balance preset would help reduce the blueness.

I was not using a tripod, that will have to be my next purchase! I had the f-stop set to 5/6. I tried the custom white balance mode to reduce blueness, but I don't think i am doing it right. Thanks for the feedback!

I think I figured out the white balance…I need to go buy a tripod. My had is too shaky and the pictures come out blurry.

The color is much better! That last two shots aren't blurry, but the depth of field is short, thats why not much is in focus. Even without a tripod, you can fix this either by using Manual or Aperture Priority modes to use a larger f-stop number, around f8 or f11. Now the larger the f-stop number, the less light is let in. You can either raise the ISO or use a tripod to keep the camera steady at slower shutter speeds.
Now the other shots: they might be blurry from a slow shutter speed, what was the speed? But are you keeping the lens pointed directly at the tank? If the lens points through the glass at an angle, there will be distortions.

Until you get a tripod you can use a stool and books to setup a make shift way to gain stability and reduce the blur.

Personally I think these photos are excellent. Have you considered submitting them to any magazines. They may purchase them as stock photos for general use in articles about various species of coral.

Also consider getting a remote shutter release to go with that tripod! Or you can also use the camera's timer to take photos, it just takes longer.
