Does anyone use their lights while the live rock is going though the mini-cycle? There was some macro algae on the rocks, so I've been running my Kessils on the lowest setting 3-5 hours per day in an attempt to preserve the coralline and macro algae.

Thoughts?

If you want to keep the algae, then I'd say yes, a few hours a day would be ok. However, if the system is indeed cycling, then you might have an algae bloom if you do it with lights. Not a huge deal but sometimes it can be hard to control the algae after the cycle process. It is recommended to cycle a system in complete darkness to let algae die.

Well, I'm assuming there will be some sort of cycle just due to the fact that the rocks were out of the water a couple of days. I'll be watching for nuisance algae, and I'll cut the lights if I see any.
