phyto culture question

I finished a batch of phyto recently and the bottom of the culture had dark green almost algae like substance stuck to the container is that the good stuff or leave it behind ?

Not an expert and don't know if its right or wrong but I have to stir the phyto about twice a week to keep that build up down even with the airline in it and I've had the same two cultures running for about a year and a half. The way I see it is if it doesn't smell rotten you should be good as copepods brine etc will still eat it.
