I get it air pump, air line, rigid air line

What container recommendations do you have where the phytoplankton is cultured do you recommend?

if you're starting a small culture (1 gallon) use an old glass jar like a pickle jar. Use a cap full (or a squirt) of isopropyl alcohol and a clean washcloth to get everything cleaned and sanitized. Rinse well, until you can't smell any alcohol. let sit till dry. If you are starting a bigger culture, use more jars, or find a food-grade plastic "HDPE" container that's big enough for your culture project. Never use "city tap water" because of the chlorine, in fact always use a carbon filtered water or RODI. The light you use should be on roughly 16 hours and off 8 hours. Don't let the airline stay on the bottom of the jar, keep it up off the bottom an inch or 2. Always stir your culture at least once a day to keep things off the bottom.

I use 2 litre pop bottles. I drink the coke, then clean it out with vinegar, and pop 2 holes in the cap for the airline. It stores very easily in the fridge, and I toss it when I'm done.

Glass is great as can use harsh chemicals to clean and not worry about plastic absorbing them BUT end of the day you can culture phyto in just about anything as long as it gets light and air.

1-5 gallon clear containers glass/plastic with lid, air breather hole, rigid airline, fertilizer and 15-18 hours of full spectrum light a day (LED is cheap and works well).

You can store in fridge 32-38 degrees for months as long as you are shaking/stiring it up a few times a week. Phyto will settle and after a few days of settling you will get die off, but if keep it mixed up so suspended more often it can last in fridge for 4-6 months and be good for dosing. As for culturing, refrigerated phyto is viable to reculture for up to 2-3 months but should get checked under microscope for viable starter culture so you dont waste f/2 and time/energy trying to reculture dead phyto. :)
