My goal is to booster my bacterial load and overall ecosystem in my tank b/c I think I degraded it some recently. This is an established tank w/ rock that I have probably had in a tank for the last 15 years. I've been dosing microbacter7, I have some phytoplankton and pods.

I've never dosed Phyto plankton so I have two questions b/c I don't want to waste it and I don't want to turn my tank green.

1. Will the UV I'm running on my DT kill it? I assume so and if that is true should I add it to my sump to help and will that be enough?
2. What is an appropriate dose to help provide good nutrition for the tanks small inhabitants w/o over doing it? I heard its bets to add a little at a time but what is a little?

My DT is 100g and my sump holds 100g but probably has 40 or 50g of water.

Thanks

The UV will definitely not be friendly to the phyto. And for dosing I would follow the instructions from whatever source you get it.

Strangely it didnt come with any instructions. ;) That is why Im asking.

Ah ok. I know algaebarn has a recommendation so you could go off of that. Small amounts is definitely the way to go. But when I say small I mean more than drops but not gulps if that makes sense. I do maybe 20ml in my 75g every few days when I have a bottle and my copepods are doing well. This is by no means a scientific number lol

I will check the algae barn web site but 20nl or so seems reasonable.

Thanks

Is this live phytoplankton? Yes UV will have an impact, your corals will definitely befit from having phytoplankton fed to them. Dosing amount will be highly variable depending on how concentrated it is, and if it's a live culture

Yes its live phytoplankton from aquairm depot. I assumed it would come with instructions. I checked it under the microscope and its very alive. On a side note do I have to do anything special to keep the phytoplankton alive until i can use it.
