Been awhile since my last post. I've been hibernating, but a year and a half later, my tank is still up and running. Currently experiencing a cyano outbreak I'm working on. Ordered a new cuc and was getting ready to toothbrush some of my live rock when I noticed this thing that looks like aptasia but wanted to consult before messing with it. Was going to just pluck it out with some tweezers, but I'm worried it may spread.

NOTHING has been added to my tank in a year so if it IS aptasia, I have no idea how it got in there. Although I DO have a few worms here and there. Could it just be a worm with some kinda tentacle head thing? When it touch it with my tweezers, it shrivels up and seems to back out of sight, but comes back up eventually. The rock it is on has been in my tank since day 1, so it's an old mature rock. So far, this one is the only one I see in there. Whatever it is.

There is no doubt in my mind that it's a pest anemone.

So.... pick up a peppermint shrimp? Maybe remove the rock and gob on a bit snot of superglue? It's only the one. Far as I know.

It looks camouflaged, those are the most devious. The evil master mind was probably in a crack or crevice or an area you do not examine routinely.

Personally I think that if you only have one I would hit with kalk paste or superglue gel rather then adding peppermints.

Tahoe61 is right don't buy peppermints for one Aiptasia .

So I can basically just smother it with the superglue and it should be gone then. I figured it was aptasia. Evil little bugger. Picking up a tube of superglue this weekend and squeeze it on him. I should be able to remove that rock for a short time.

those little PUNK anemonees. I had them bad in my 180 and my CBB demolished them. I swapped to a 66 gallon tank and kept the CBB for a while but it was not sustainable. he has been gone 6 months or so and I find htis massive pest. UGH.

Oh superglue will do you wonders!
I get the small tubes from the dollar store, perfect for intank treatments. It will tuck into its hole and then just fill the hole up... gone

Where there is one, there will be more than one. Peppermint shrimp have always been a good natural response to aptasia. Being laborious and using aptasia-X is the only true way I have experienced removal.

+1 for peppermint shrimp. I had 5 small ones that I could see. I purchased just 2 for my 200 gallon dt and within 3 days it was all gone.
