Picasso trigger and cuc

So my trigger pretty much ate all my cuc I only have a few hermits(he left them alone before I had to cut feedings) left a few nerites(some did get put in my husband's tank he has hair algea and that probly saved their lives) 1 nassirus left and dwarf cerith not sure how many are left considering their size and hiding in the rocks and maybe a couple Florida cerith I had to cut back on feedings because of nitrates getting to high and I know that's why he went on a scavenger hunt if I buy more and resume the normal feedings I know he will probly just keep picking them off is there anything he won't eat

I should add a lot of said cuc was added after the trigger came the ones a had before took care of the tank fine hence where levels went out of wack

I hate to say it but triggers and CUC don't usually get invited to the same party... I wish it were possible, as I love triggers

, but most of the time they will eat anything they can get their hands on. I should add however that it truly depends on the fish. Some have had experiences where their trigger never touched the cuc while others have had them wiped out. As a general rule most triggers can't be in that environment. If you want to have a clean up crew than I suggest removing the trigger and maybe if you still would like a triggerfish, consider getting a bluethroat triggerfish. They are, in most tanks, model citizens and shouldn't harm the CUC. Beautiful color and harmless for the most part.

I figured as much with the cuc from research I just really don't want to get rid of this guy and was hoping there was some that would work without constantly buying new ones but I don't want the tank to suffer either I only have him and a snowflake eel and the cuc in the tank knew not having a sump would be harder shame on me I know (that's why it's only these 2 right now that and tank size) but my tank can't be drilled and I was going to upgrade it to a bigger tank with a sump tried to add macro algea.....the trigger ate it and uprooted it I didn't want to do anything that would clog/block the filters as that's super important in this tank so I bought ones that needed to be planted the levels have stabilized with what I've been doing except nitrate still at 10 though when it was really bad they were much higher am I going to have to give him up to save him and the eel in the long run

Should I take him back going to add chaeto either way thought of fish breeding nets to keep it out of the filters could that possibly mean I could keep him till the upgrade

Your tank dosent appear to have bad algae... serpent star or bristle stars.
Urchins. Long spines..sally.light foots. Are a toss up depending on the size of your predators.
My humu humu is maybe 2 or 3" and he has also eaten most of my ceriths and dwarf hermits. He pecks at the bigger hermits shells but has only gotten maybe 1 of those.
