So I got a Picasso triggerfish last Wednesday. I’m noticing he’s hiding more and more. Is this normal Picasso behavior? I thought they like to swim around

They are usually a very outgoing fish, so tell us a little about your tank. Could there be a fish that is bullying him. How big is he and has he been eating. Any signs like faded color, cloudy eyes, lethargy, stingy poo, pinched belly, etc. How long has he been in the tank, if you got him pretty quickly from collection; he may still just be getting used to life in captivity.

75G, no one is bullying him. He’s the biggest fish in the tank. He’s probably 3 1/2”. 2 clowns, niger trigger, coral Beaut, convict, Sailfin, and Dory, diamond W goby, Toby puffer and the Picasso. He was swimming around when I got him. Haven’t noticed any stringy Pooh. The day I scooped him the Petco had just got him maybe 4hrs before hand.

They’re all Juveniles, the parameters are good. I just did a water change. I do them every week. I actually enjoy doing water changes, but the color is there. No fading

A. He's probly been though a ton of stress B. Tank is way to small for when he grows up especially with how many fish you have now I have a 55 gallon with a plan on upgrading to a 180 and he's only with an eel these fish get to about 10 inches

That is alot of fish for a 75g and a few of them can have attitude. All except for the clowns, coral beauty, and goby; will outgrow that tank, some very quickly. How long has he been in the tank. Did you check and match sg.

They’re all small, will be upgrading the tank. Anyway the tanks been up 3 months now. Sg, I’m assuming that’s salinity, but it’s 1.023

I got Juveniles on purpose. They will not stay in the 75G. I probably should’ve started with that so the cops wouldn’t get me. The biggest fish in the tank is 3 1/2”. If that. Now can we focus on the issue.

Not trying to patrol I'm nowhere near that level I'm still struggling with mine simply stating that's a lot of fish for that tank in fact I planned the upgrade AFTER I got my picasso sorry if I implied anything just stating how big they get and how many you have right now with how short of a time you got him and the fish store got him like I said before he's probly really stressed I really didn't mean to sound like a saltwater patrol

It’s all good. I want my fish to grow together. I’ve got my core of what I want. I definitely want a bigger tank. ASAP! But, cool, it’s just annoying that such a beautiful fish is hiding like that. The thing about this hobby that I’m noticing is, you’ve got to hop on fish when you see them. I paid $45 for my Picasso. Whereas online I’m paying more than that and then throw $50 for shipping. That’s dead. So I hopped on it.

I wish I could do that and have them all grow up together my tank couldn't handle it though(no sump) so they will forever be the only 2 I don't want to risk late intro definitely agree on lack of availability in stores and every time my husband has ordered they tried to make it next day late until he raised a fuss to keep them alive

I have my tank at 1.025 same as the fish store I got him from but they had him for a while as well double transfer is always double stressed it took mine a day or two to adjust

That’s another thing about deliveries. I ordered a fish, and the Delivery person threw the box against the door, when it says clear as day that it’s fragile. Talk about stress.

The stores around me tend to stick to 1.021-1.023... two Petcos and my LFS

My husband's coral nearly died from delivery box was half smashed can't say much for petcos I never bought from there for saltwater after my freshwater disaster I went to fish freaks and Nebraska aquatics

Yikes, yea delivery drivers can be the worst. I think I lucked up with my Petco. The aquarist specialist are really into the hobby and are very knowledgeable. The store I go to is I guess a high priority store in their store hierarchy so they get more of the fish that aren’t readily available at other stores.

Is he eating? Coming out during feedings? Fwiw i got a lionfish dwarf day after the lfs got him. I didnt even think about letting him chill for awhile or asking to see him eat something...
From one body of water to another to another imo is stressful for a fish.
Give time. Dim lights if u can. Hows the tank flow? A big trigger like that can handle lots of flow.

Idk if I can say he comes out for feeding. Usually he’s hidden somewhere when it’s time to eat, so he’ll get the scraps. There’s a lot of flow. I have two wave makers, one on the right and one on the left. About 2450gph combined
