My wife and I cannot decide

From Left to Right

20" Tall 50 gal 6' tall stand, Tank is flush to door tops, tank has a 3/4 overhang in front as it is flush.

20" Tall 50 gal, 6' tall stand, Tank bottom is below and behind front doors. So there is a 3/4 inch lip around the tank and it sits recessed.

24" Tall 60 gal 6' 6" tall stand, Tank is flush to door tops, tank has a 3/4 overhang in front as it is flush.

Choice doesn't matter as I am building the stand / tank. This will be my interm tank until my basement is renoed and I can use the 120 or larger by that point. Then it will probably become a display refugium. However the way I am designing the stand the left 1' shelf is removable and then I can put a 36" x 24" tank instead of 24"x24" if I want.

Next photo is with the 24" tall cube and doors open to give idea as to how I'm going to route things. This will be the same on all tanks.

Thank you for your input,

Ram

One thing i recommened is make it easy for u to access to tall some times u wont b able to reach places in the tank also is annoying to get a stool and have to scuba dive in your tank coming out soaking wet

I agree! when I reach to the bottom of mine, The tank is in my armpit and its annoying lol
I like the flush styles though for the stands. I have a 1" lip around the entire tank and when I drip and forget to wipe it up, I see all kids of dust/salt residue.

How long will it take to get the basement finished?
Are you my wife?

Let's put it this way, it was supposed to be done years ago. I have to take prefinish dry wall down, redo electrical, put drywall up, mud, paint, floor, T-Bar ceiling.

Then I can do fish closet, plumbing, etc.

Then I can redo flooring on main floor and put big tank up, (maybe).
By this time I will probably want a 220+ and just sell the 120.

LOL! Literally laughed at the wife comment! LOL!

Spend the time that would go into making this stand/tank into finishing the basement. Let's get to the end result!

I'm not your wife, but how about we start this basement refinish NOW!

You need to be scraping option 4 off the poll..... it ain't never gonna happen. :)

I'd go with taller.

I allowed multiple votes per person. I want to scrape option 4 off, but I figured you all would just laugh and say, more tanks is always better.

I could build the stand in a weekend or I could procrastinate all weekend about packing stuff up in the basement :P

Laughed out loud about "Are you my wife?" I could hear it in my wife's voice when it was originally asked...

Personally I like the larger, flush version. Recesses are always a collecting point for dust, salt creep, etc...
