Last weekend I picked up a 65G FOLR tank with a 40G sump. While breaking down the setup we had to cut the nuts off, ouch, the bulkhead fittings, much better. I wasn't able to replace them so I ended up setting up everything in the 40. The salinity was off the charts high and I'ved added about 4-5 gallons of fresh RO water over the last week. I finally reached 1.03 on my hydrometer today. Looking to bring it down to 1.025. I threw the skimmer from my 28JBJ into the tank and that's where I am today. There is quite a bit of live rock in the tank and 6 fish, a yellow tang, coral beauty angel, domino damsel, clarks clown, blue cheek trigger and a porcupine puffer, no CUC to speak of. Is this going to be sufficient in the short term until I can get my salinity in check and reduce my fish load. I'm probably going to part ways with the damsel, puffer and trigger. I'm hoping to keep the rest and start up the 65G into a reef tank with mostly soft coral. My goal is an easy to keep tank with minimal upkeep and expense.
