so I went to WWC and picked a few fish and emerald crabs. These guys was kinda big with huge claws. After acc, throw the big guy and found him chewing on my hammers ! Going to return them later today. This normal? Thought emerald crabs was reef safe. My smaller emerald is an absolute angel. Cleans my corals but never lunched on anything he shouldn’t .

Unfortunately it's a gamble on these guys I try buy small as I can find and try to put then in the tank in a area were I need them know kinda hard to do sometimes. But had a big on I got a couple years ago and went after my fish at night he was good sized .

Only problem I have with them is knocking over frags and removing freshly glued down xenia. They didn't eat the xenia but it did look like they were eating the glue.

Yeah , I should of known better as these are just animals and do what animals do. lol

Just picking out cuc that I see effective in my tank. My smaller emerald goes to town on the algae, especially the chunky algae. He cleans both my hammers sparkly clean of any algae. Should of gotten super tiny ones instead . Now I’m not sure if I even want to chance it again. Guess I’m going to swap them out for really small hermit crabs.

Ime, with sps at least they’ll only eat stuff that’s already dying. I’d imagine they’d chew on meatier things like a hammer for sure. That being said, it never bothered my bta.

Came back with 2 small female emerald crabs. The ones I had was fully grown males . Hope these gals don’t harm my corals or else.... lol
