Local guy has old pickle barrel for sale. You think bleach and a thorough cleaning would be ok. They look like rain barrels.

Yes, I use pickle buckets , bleach ,rinse and repeat , been doing it for years.

The plastic ones? What for?
Yes, I think generally the food grade plastic barrels when cleaned up should be fine for most applications, my concern would be that for something like pickles, if you can still smell them after cleaning, there's still something there, even if it's not much.
