Pickling Lime

I just got my Mrs Wages, I was actually looking for the mixing instructions just now.

I am using it with no problems. Use it as recommended by Randy. Same receipt.

I used to mix it in a 3 gallon container that I drilled a hole through the bottom corner of and put an IV tube in the hole sealed with silicone. Dripped it this way for years. Now I use it in a kalk stirrer because it's just easier.

I would suggest reading this.

What Your Grandmother Never
Told You About Lime

I much prefer a still water reservoir to pull from to dose.
Ya beat me to it. Perfect, Thanks.

The stirring kalk settling kalk has been a long standing debate like 10k lights and 20k lights. As they both seem to work, I'm going for what's easiest for me.

I use Mrs Wages and it works fine in the Kalk Stirrer with my RO/DI topoff system. Good results and super easy. Just put more in when it is no longer in there. A 1/2 cup works for about 3 weeks for me.

Not sure about debate. I like it as I have the space and it will dose fully saturated lime. A reactor is great for those that don't have the space but you will be uncertain of the saturation levels between it's mixing times and have a higher rate of dosing undissolved Ca(OH)2 and other precipitated elements.

And yes, do what you feel is best for your setup. Nothing wrong with that or needed to be debated.

oh yea, reefers like debates. It was one of those totally confusing points when I first started. "You need a stirrer" "You need to let it settle"
Hahaha! I don't have a stirrer. I just premix in the water when I refill my ATO tank. Been doing that for about a year. Every few months when the ATO tank is low, I rinse out the calcium carbonate that has settled to the bottom and start all over :)
