Are Pajama Cardinals known picky eaters? I've had a pair for about a month and a half and the only thing they eat are shrimp. I've tried flakes, pellets, frozen mixed, frozen black worms and nothing. However, mysis, either frozen or freeze dried, they eat. Tonight I tried shimp (people shrimp), we had left over (boiled), and chopped fine, and they ate that as well.

Is this normal, and if so, any tips on getting them to eat something else?

I had a pair (with ich/velvet - experiment fish) in QT for 10 days and now they are in a HT. I first got them eating cyclopeeze and then live blackworms. They were eating up the blackworms until I moved them into the HT and now their appetite has slacked off. Odd fish.

Every pj cardinal I have ever kept took pellets and anything else I fed within the forst week. But if you are having trouble try mixing other foods in with the mysis when you feed. Hopefully they will inadvertently eat some while trying to eat the mysis and begin to get less picky.

That's pretty weird Paul. Just about all pj's I have had at just about everything. Have you tried mixing different types of food with the mysis and feeding at the same time? It's worth a shot.

I have a banngai that won't touch flake or pellets. eats frozen brine and Mysis, but it does love freeze dried blackworms.

My pajama ate anything at all, too

Mine only eats frozen but I add pellets and flakes and hope they develop a taste for them.
