Alrite this is my first build thread i started this build about a month and half ago maybe two months and its all starting to finally come together i wanted something small but not your tradition tank and i saw another build with a cookie jar and i wanted something like that i thought the concept and idea of it was amazing and its a new challenge that i finally took on.
specs are 2g Cookie jar
Rio 50 pump
Ai prime hd
and a small heater.

inhabitants so far is a small red ruby dragonette there was two but one wasnt doing so good at the lfs and i took them both to see if getting out of their system would help it but it didnt a

Very interesting build now you should make a custom overflow box in the back hide the heater and pump in it. You could prob make it out of that plastic board stuff from middle school class presentations

Well the tank is going thru the ugly stage now with what I believe are diatoms

I've added some cuc currently have
5collonistas snails
1bumble bee snail
1hermit crab
1 narcissus snail

lol, I used the same jar but it was for a planted FW tank with neon tetras and a cherry shrimp. My first SW tank was a 3 gallon pico tank with live sand live rock, hob filter, rio pump and heater. I was hooked so now I am up to a jbj 30 gal. AIO :D

So I've been having a problem here with what I believe is gha if I could get a id that would be great maybe @twilliard you could give me some insight on it I'll post my nutrients in a min once I test maybe it's my husbandry? I do about a gallon a week I've been hesitant to put any coral in it because I don't know if I have the ai prime tuned in I do like the color just wither or not it's to intense is my problem any help would be appreciated

Ammonia -0
Nitrite -0
Nitrate -0
Phosphate between 0 -0.25 more toward the 0
Temp is 78•
For the lighting it's been
Uv 60%
Violet 60%
RB 60%
Blue 60%
Cool white ive been running at 12% and I just upped it to 40%
Red 30%
Green 30%

Yes that is a form GHA
This is a tough one in such a small area. I would limit your red spectrum to start off with.
Is this algae also on the glass?
Where was the rock sourced from?
Do you currently have any livestock?
My first recommendation is to dip that rock in h2o2 for several minutes. The downfall to this is that looks to be your only rock so bio filter will be compromised.

So should I reduce the red even more? Or all the way to zero?
Yeah that's algae on the glass it's almost like green coralline it's impossible to get off but I think it's the type of glass it is it has like grooves in the inside
And the rock came from the lfs which was dried and cured before entering the system
The only live stock still currently in it is just the cuc
So put the rock in a bucket with salt or fresh water? And some h202 I figured the system will need to reset I'm just trying to figure out where I got this from cause my other tank doesn't have any and it's all the same water from the same source

I'll probably dip the pump in the h202 as well?? And if it matters I do have 4 mangroves in it and about 12 more in my other sump should I possible add more to the pico or no??

Even the smallest strand of algae cells will do this. Yes the red will help the process of photosynthesis in algaes. This is why the red is primarily used in ATS's.
Take the rock out and pour H2O2 right over the rock making sure the rock got soaked. After 4 minutes you can put it back in.
Soak all equipment in the same way.
Add 1ml of H2O2 twice a day to the jar. In short time this will kill all the remaining algae on the glass and within the sand.
Keep in mind a person can transfer algae in every way known from water (fish bags and nets), plugs and rocks just to name a few.
The only reason why I don't have algae is because of strict protocols in anything that touches my water and the use of H2O2 in QT.

When I add the 1ml of h202 to the tank twice a day is there a certain time in between I should dose and for how long?

I haven't kept up with this post but the tank is finally maturing I've been battling gha and I have that under control for the most part needed a bigger cuc to then just one snail and one hermit lol but here's a updated picture

i tried to take out some of the blue make it alittle better hopefully.

So I didn't really like the glass of the cookie jar it was very porous and was hard to clean so I decided to upgrade it to the aqua Japan 16l aio
