So many strange things I find these days. Are these pineapple sponges? I have insane amount of them in my tank.

I need to find something that will eat these... I have enough to sustain them for a very long time lol

They feed of silicates in the water. Are you using RO/DI water? The absorb silicates from the water, thus removing it. I wouldn't say there a bad thing but I would check ur water source.

I wouldn't be concerned IN THE LEAST. I had an outbreak when I set my tank up. In a short time, they went away. Silicates get the blame for several things in our tanks. I use RO/DI water, aragonite sand, and Reef Crystals salt.

Like a most things in our tanks, they self regulate too. As their food (whether it's Silicates or anything else) becomes scarce, the population will settle down.

Agreed! Surprised how much they do look like little pineapples, lol

I could use something like that also. I've got a lot of sponges all over my tank...some aren't that pretty. Most are yellow but some are black.

Mine are all white... my file fish just looks at Em like I think I should eat you but I just don't know lol

He only eats aphasia and frozen brine shrimps. He plays well with all my coal

You are one of the lucky ones my friend, mine ate about $3000 worth of corals when the aph. was all gone. You can ask the bros at ETRC and VRJ plus the LFS the trouble I had with mine, pure nightmare! :ooh:

I suspect mine eats palys. I've gotten some palys and put them in my display tank about 4 times and they never last long. I aw the filefish nip at some once, so I suspect he's the one that gets them. I may try and get him out. He did help wipe out aiptasia though. The only places I have aiptasia now are in my refugium and overflow.
