Pineapple sponge?

Sorry for the bad pictures. It’s i. My fluval 13.5 and I didn’t scrape off the back side of it. You can kind of see it but they look like white webs all over the chamber in the back. Looks as if they’re keeping the chamber clean of detritus in the first one but the second chamber is a little dirty and they’re starting to grow in there. Should I let them stay and clean up my chambers or will it become a problem?

Looks like sponges to me (not pineapple sponges though) - I’d leave them. Sponges are generally harmless filter feeders.

The little circles make it hard to see and confirm . They generally dont clean algae but rather filter feed off algaes and favor dark, low flow areas. The webbing you see is ciliated poriferan sponge also favoring dark low flow areas and can be removed with a dental pick or small crochet needle and they can grow to be invasive.
The pineapple if they are will slowly dissolve as silicate levels become reduced.

That’s what I figured. They aren’t doing much harm in the chamber so I thought I’d just keep them chilling back there.

Not harmful and will eventually vanish. You can remove them if you wish scraping off with something like the edge of a credit card
