Pineapple sponges on torch?

Are these safe to let grow on this torch.
Right now they are in my coral QT tank.
Also, any idea in second pic what that "hair" is?

Harmless, pineapple sponge.

They look like far below the coral. Should be fine. Pineapple sponge are filter feeders. Hairs look like hair algae.

What can/should I do about the hair algae that is on the skeleton?

I would physically remove it,

try to brush it off. Also, how's the flow in the area? The sponges will eventually go away on their own. For some reason they have taken over my sump, and I don't know why.
