Hi and thanks for looking,

Can anyone confirm if these are pineapple sponges? I found one attatched to a zoa polyp a few mornings ago. I grabbed some tweezers and pulled it off. Didn't think much about it. Now, I'm seeing these things everywhere. Guess they came in on my chaeto(?). Thanks again

If your tank is newer, has new rock or new sand, you may have elevated silica levels. They will eventually die off when levels of silica drop in the tank, which they will do by themselves. When silica levels are high, they can multiply like crazy.

These sponges are normally found in dark, shady areas of sump and tank alike. Thriving off silicates from sand, water source and RODI resin , they are short lived.
