Pineapples on my zoa frag?

I've had this frag for 2 months, exploding with growth. My hermit took a stroll across it and I noticed what appeared to be pineapples sponges in between the polyps. No other frags have them and no other PS in the tank. Anyone have an idea? They have the same color/transparency as one.
