I love the look of the little colourful bits in Fiji pink sand, but I think I'm going to have to go with the special grade to avoid it blowing all over the place in the tank. That made me wonder if I could just buy the "pink bits" separately and mix them in - does anyone know what they actually are or where one might find such a thing? From my search so far I'm guessing they're seashell fragments, but crushed shells sold for reefs always look plain white in photos.

Does anyone sell small amounts of crushed shell that are decorative and designed for aquarium use? Wondered if I could reach out to a supplier like reefcleaners and see if they have any shells that are too damaged to sell for hermits to use...

Thanks!

If this helps your search, here's where the pink bits come from:
That's really cool - I wouldn't have guessed there were shelled amoebas, and they're so intricate too! Thanks for the link ^^

I'm not sure they'd be the pieces I was thinking of, unfortunately. The sample photo of caribsea's fiji pink has a lot of multicoloured grains (mostly pink but there are others too) which aren't present in the reef select grade. I probably should've added the picture up front!
